1: Set 1
Set 1 is the start of the RWI program. Set 1 is split into 3 groups: Set 1A, Set 1B and Set 1C.
Set 1A
Children learn to read the first 16 Set 1 sounds (m a s d t i n p g o c k u b f e). They learn to blend (using resources from Word Time 1.1 to 1.3). They learn to spell using Fred Fingers.
Set 1B
Children learn to read the 25 Set 1 sounds (m a s d t i n p g o c k u b f e l h r j v y w z x). They learn to blend sounds into words orally and access Word Time 1.1 to 1.4). They continue to spell using Fred Fingers.
Set 1C
Children learn to read the Set 1 single-letter sounds speedily. They learn to blend independently using Phonics Green Word Cards and continue to access Word time 1.1. to 1.4, where they read words with Fred Talk (say each sound and then blend together to say the word). They spell using Fred Fingers.
